This file is the Manual of Surveying Instructions for the Survey of the Public Lands of the United States. The official Manual of Surveying Instructions describes how surveys of the public lands are made in conformance to statutory law and its judicial interpretation helping reduce the number of incorrect surveys that are made in the US. This is the 2009 edition which is provided by the Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management. The Manual is not constantly updated, with updates coming out every few decades or so. This 2009 edition is the current manual available and when a new one is released, we will make sure to update it for your needs. This is a great resource to have knowledge on for those new land surveyors surveying boundaries in Public Land Survey System states (PLSS).
